CM to Feet converter
centimetres (cm)= feet (ft)The formula
centimetres ÷ 30.48 = feet. For feet and inches, take the whole number of feet, then multiply the decimal remainder by 12 to get the inches.
Heights in Britain are a good example of why this conversion matters. Passports, medical records and gym equipment tend to use centimetres, while most people still describe their own height in feet and inches, so the same person is 175 cm in one place and 5 feet 9 inches in another.
Working it through by hand is straightforward. Divide by 30.48 to get a decimal number of feet, for example 175 divided by 30.48 is 5.74. The whole part, 5, is the feet. Multiply the remaining 0.74 by 12 and you get 8.9, so 175 cm is 5 feet 8.9 inches, which rounds to 5 feet 9 inches.
