Privacy Policy
Last updated 28 September 2026. This policy explains what happens to information when you use measurementunits.co.uk.
The short version
- The converters run in your browser. The values you type are never sent to us.
- There is no account, no login, and no newsletter sign-up.
- If you use the contact form, we receive what you type in it.
- We show advertising through Google AdSense, which may set cookies and use device identifiers.
Advertising, third-party vendors and your choices
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
Visitors in the UK, the EEA and Switzerland are shown a consent message before personalised advertising cookies are used. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the privacy settings link shown at the bottom of the page. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google My Ad Center, or opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.eu.
Children
This website is a general-audience reference site and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through the contact form, please contact us and we will delete it.
Who is responsible for your data
The data controller for this website is Measurement Units (measurementunits.co.uk), based in the United Kingdom. You can reach us through the contact form.
Information you give us
The only place on this site where you actively submit information is the contact form. It collects the name, email address and message you enter. We use these solely to read and reply to your enquiry. We do not add contact form submissions to a marketing list and we do not sell them.
Information collected automatically
Like almost all websites, our hosting produces server logs. These typically record your IP address, browser and device type, the pages requested, and the date and time. They are used for security, diagnosing faults, and measuring performance. The site also uses caching software to serve pages faster, which stores copies of pages rather than information about you.
Advertising and cookies
This site displays advertising supplied by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may set cookies or use similar device identifiers to serve and measure adverts, and in some regions to personalise them. We do not control those cookies and we do not receive the data they collect.
You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and you can control or turn off ad personalisation at adssettings.google.com. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though doing so may affect how some websites behave.
Fonts and other third-party resources
Typefaces on this site are loaded from Google Fonts. When your browser requests them, your IP address is visible to Google as part of that request.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent personal information.
- We do not record the values you enter into the converters.
- We do not ask for payment details anywhere on this site.
Your rights
If you are in the UK or the EU, data protection law gives you the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to how it is used, and to receive a copy in a portable format. To exercise any of these, contact us through the contact form.
If you believe we have handled your data improperly, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
How long we keep things
Contact form messages are kept for as long as needed to deal with the enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards for our records. Server logs are retained on a short rolling basis by our hosting provider.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site changes. The date at the top always reflects the most recent revision.
