Using this site

Accuracy of conversions

We take accuracy seriously. Conversion factors are drawn from published NIST and BIPM reference values, and where a factor is exact by definition we calculate with the exact value. Even so, the tools and reference tables on this site are provided for general information. Results may be rounded for display, and some figures, particularly ingredient weights and clothing sizes, are typical values rather than exact ones.

You are responsible for verifying any figure before relying on it where the consequences matter. That includes medical or veterinary dosing, engineering and construction tolerances, aviation and marine navigation, laboratory work, and any legal, financial or commercial measurement. Check an authoritative source appropriate to your field.

Availability

We aim to keep the site available and correct, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may change, suspend, or withdraw any part of the site, including individual converters, without notice.

Intellectual property

The text, design, illustrations, and code of this site are our property unless stated otherwise. You are welcome to link to any page. You may quote short extracts with attribution and a link. You may not republish substantial portions of the content, or copy the converters, without permission.

Conversion factors themselves are facts and are not claimed as our property. They belong to the standards bodies that publish them.

Advertising and external links

This site carries third-party advertising and links to external websites, including standards bodies such as NIST and BIPM. We do not control the content of external sites or the adverts served to you, and we are not responsible for them. A link is not an endorsement.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, this site or the figures it produces. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.
